How To Set Hard Drive Password in Windows 10


 Before  Set Hard Drive Password, we need to understand why we should use Bitlocker.

Bit locker encrypts disk drives and their contents. When encrypted, others cannot see your files even if the computer had been stolen or the hard disk was taken.

The primary reason to use BitLocker on the computers is to minimize the chance that useful data can be recovered from lost storage devices by a third party.

To Set Hard Drive Password , follow these following steps:

 1.  Open this pc.

 










        2. Right click on the drive in which you want to activate bit locker.


 

    









       3. Then click on “Turn bitlocker on”.



 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 4.  Then this dialog box will appear, after appearing the dialog box click on “use a password to unlock the drive”.


 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 5.  Then enter a strong password in both two boxes, and click “Next”.



 

 

 

 

    










      6.  Then this dialog box is  appear, after appearing the dialog box click on “save to a file”.


 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


    7.   Then Select a secure destination to save your recovery key. After choosing a destination click on “save”.


 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 8 . After saving the recovery key, click “Next”.


 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 



        9.   Then this type of dialog box is  appear, after appearing the dialog box click on “Encrypt entire drive (slower but best for PCs and drives already in use)” and then click “Next”.

 


 

 

 

 

 

 

 








         10.    Then this type of dialog box is gonna appear, after appearing the dialog box click on “New encryption mode (best for fixed drives on this device)” and then click “Next”.



 

 

 

 

 

 

 







   11.   Then this type of dialog box will appear, after appearing the dialog box click on “Start encrypting”..


 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

          




       12. Then your encryption will start as shown below..

            It will take 3-5 min.

      

     13.  After encrypting completes restart your pc/computer.


         

 

 

 

 


        

        

       14.  And after restarting you can see the drive is locked.And you can unlock with the password which you have given.....


 











Note1: - when you set your password it must include alphabets and numbers both

Note 2:-  Remember to save your recovery key in a safe location because if someone finds your recovery key he/she can unlock your drive using the recovery key.
